The Manilla Show Society would like to thank all those entering exhibits in the pavilion. It is vital to have those exhibits to make the pavilion an interesting and enjoyable experience for the show visitors.
Pavilion Conditions of Entry:
By submitting an entry, you agree to the possibility of your entry being displayed online, on our Facebook page and website. You agree to abide by all the decisions of the Manilla Show Committee regarding exhibits which you enter subject to the rules and regulations of the Manilla Show Society Inc and will not hold the Manilla Show Society responsible for any lose, damage or wrongful delivery of same.

Feature Cake Recipe
Almond Meringue Cake
(Recipe from Women’s Weekly Cookbook 1970)
Ingredients
125 g butter
1/2 cup caster sugar
1 pinch salt
4 egg yolks
1/3 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 cup self-raising flour
Topping
4 egg whites
3/4 cup caster sugar
2 tsp caster sugar extra
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 cup slivered almonds
Method
1. Cream butter and sugar together, until pale and fluffy and sugar has dissolved.
2. Add egg yolks and vanilla, beat until just combined.
3. Sift flour and salt together.
4. Beat at low speed, adding milk and flour mix alternatively slowly until all is incorporated.
5.Turn mixture into an 8 inch (21cm) greased and lined spring-form tin with the baking paper extending 5 cm above the edge of the tin.
6.Topping: Beat egg whites until stiff then gradually add sugar beating well.
7. Add meringue to top of cake, make sure the meringue goes right to the edges of cake and collar.
8.Mix together extra sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over cake, then evenly scatter over the cake the almonds.
9.Bake at 170C (fan forced) for 60 minutes. The meringue and the almonds will just be starting to colour.
Allow to cool. Gradually release tin gently pulling away the paper collar.
