General Rules and Regulations
All competition at this show is governed by these regulations and by the Agricultural Societies
Council of NSW Rules for Discipline in Horse Sections at Shows which can be viewed at
www.agshowsnsw.org. au. Should it become necessary for the ASC Disciplinary Committee to
open an inquiry into any aspect of
competition in the Horse Section, this society will support any penalty imposed by that Committee
as a result of the inquiry and support penalties resulting from inquiries arising from Horse Sections
at other NSW shows.
Indemnity and Wavier Forms
The Horse Committee will take all care in managing the Section, but competitors taking part in this
Horse Section do so at their own risk. Each adult competitor must before competing, complete and sign a form indemnifying the Manilla Show Society and waiving competitor’s property or damage caused by the competitor or his/her animal(s) at the Show.
Also, on each Wavier, each horse with which the competitor is involved in competition at the show must be listed together with the Property Identification Code (PIC) of the property from which the horse came to the show. If all information is not filled out on this from the competitor will not be able to compete. To avoid disappointment, please ensure that you have your PIC Code with on day of competition.
Refusal of Entry and Alteration of Schedule
The committee reserves the right to refuse an entry without assigning any reason for doing so and to alter the schedule to meet emerging circumstances.
Judge’s Decision/Discretion
The judge is empowered to withhold any or all prizes in any class where the exhibits are, in his/her opinion, unworthy of the prize, and at all times the judge’s decision will be final. A judge has the discretion to ask that a led or performance exhibit and handler/rider/driver be ordered to leave the ring if he/she considers the animal is unruly and/or likely to cause an accident. There will be no waiting between classes or rings for competitors or horses.
DRUG TESTING
THIS SHOW IS A MEMBER OF THE CENTRAL NORTHERN GROUP OF SHOW
SOCIETIES AND THIS GROUP UNDERTAKES A HORSE DRUG TESTING
PROGRAMME THAT HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED SINCE THE COMMENCEMENT OF
GROUP SHOWSIN1991.
IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO KNOW THE RULES AND REGULATIONS REGARDING THIS
DRUG TESTING PROGRAMME AND THIS SHOW OR THIS GROUP WILL NOT IN ANY WAY
ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE AND/OR UNDERSTANDING
OF THIS SUBJECT.
IT IS A CONDITION OF ENTRY AT THIS SHOW THAT ALL HORSES COMPETING AT
THIS SHOW, COMPETE ON THE UNDERSTANDING THAT DRUG TESTING MAY BE
CARRIED OUT AT THIS SHOW AND IF DRUGS ARE DETECTED THEN PENALTIES WILL
APPLY.
Cruelty, Proper Conduct and Coaching
Persons who are considered by the Ringmaster or Chief Steward to be abusive or cruel to a horse will be expelled from the ground. No horse will be permitted to compete if, in the opinion of the Ringmaster and Chief Steward, it is in poor health or condition. Any exhibitor or associate who behaves offensively on the Showground will be removed from the Showground. Any person detected coaching a competitor while that competitor is being judged may be removed from the Showground.
Program Changes and times of events
The Society reserves the right to alter the program where applicable and to add extra classes or divide classes where entries are excessive. Times and program of events will be announced over the public address system.
Helmets, Footwear and Attire
Every rider is encouraged to wear a safety helmet with the current Australian Standards – new number ASNZS3838BGI. Helmets must be under 5 years old. Riders Under 18 years of age must wear an approved helmet. All competitors must wear appropriate footwear when leading or riding a horse. When riding the footwear must enable removal of foot from the stirrup. Competitors must be appropriately attired for the competition they are competing in.
Horse Measuring
No official measuring will take place at the show, but, if a question about height arises, proof of height may be required. In the absence of proof, a decision will be at the absolute discretion of the Ring Master and Horse Steward.
Protests
A protest or complaint against any exhibit may be lodged verbally with the Ringmaster or Horse Steward no later than ten minutes after the judging of the exhibit or exhibitor. The Ringmaster or Horse Steward must be provided with the exact nature of the complaint and act, if necessary, to maintain competitive fairness. The ringmaster or Horse Steward may choose to refer the matter to the Protest Committee, which shall comprise of the President or Vice President and two other members of the General Committee.
A protest or complaint or an appeal against the decision of the Ringmaster or Horse Steward may be lodged with the Secretary no later than 1Opm on the day of judging. Such protest, complaint or appeal shall be accompanied by a deposit of $50 which shall be forfeited if the protest, complaint or appeal proves to be frivolous to vexatious. A matter lodged this way shall be dealt with by the Protest Committee within 24 hours of lodgement and the decision of the Protest Committee shall be final. Please Note: No protest or complaint will be considered if it refers simply to a judge’s decision.
Definitions
Maiden Hack: Never having won first place in a similar event at an Agriculture Show.
Novice Hack: Never having won a champion in a similar event at Agriculture Show.
Intermediate Hack: Never having won 1st or 2nd at a Royal Show.
Stallions: Stallions are not eligible to compete, unless a stated in program as a stallion specific class.
Show Hunter Classes: No open hacks to compete in show hunter classes and no show hunters to compete in open hack classes.
ANSA Classes: Only ANSA registered horses eligible to compete.
Breed Classes: All breed classes are for registered breed horse only. Horse must be registered and the owner financial. Manilla Show Society Reserves the right to request papers as proof of registration.
Champion and Reserve Champion Eligibility: First place winners in designated classes will compete for champion and second place getters to the champion will be eligible to compete for reserve champion.
Stable Allocations and Camping
Stable Allocations: A charge of $5.00 per day will apply. Stable will be allocated by the Show Secretary and all bookings must be made prior to the show, on a first come first serve basis. Camping: Camping is available for competitors with livestock at the Manilla Showground at the 2025 Manilla Show for a charge of $23.00 for a powered site and $13.00 for a non-powered site. Bookings are required prior to the show and a camping permit will be issued and is required to be displayed. If camping, admission to the show must still be paid each day or a membership/weekend pass purchased.

It is compulsory for all persons to wear properly fastened protective headgear with three-point retention harness at all times when mounted. An athlete who jumps or attempts to jump an obstacle without headgear or without the retention harness done up correctly will be eliminated.
All competitors compete at their own risk and must sign Horse Indemnity & Wavier Form before competing. Competitors under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian to sign Indemnity and Wavier Form. Please note that PIC numbers must be provided on this form. Toa void disappointment please ensure that you have your PIC number with you.
All competitors are to be appropriately dressed. -tie and approved helmet must be worn.

The judges decision is final.
Junior events will be run in conjunction with height classes on the same course, but as a separate event and with separate prizes.
