Sheep Penning Rules

1.Time for a run commences when the first of the three team members cross the starting line.

2.NO hands/arms to be used – hands behind backs or in pockets.

3.Within a time limit of, 2m30s, a team will attempt to cut the collared mob and pen three head of sheep. (A 30 second warning bell may be given prior to the end of the run).

4.A team can only call time once.

5.Time will be called when the tail of the last sheep enters the pen.

6.Teams penning less than three head need to make it known to the judges so time can be awarded at

appropriate time.

7.A team may call for time, with only one or two of the assigned sheep penned, however, teams penning three head of sheep will place higher than those penning two head and two head will place higher than one head, regardless of time.

8.Team members cannot enter the 'pen' to remove any wrong sheep who accidentally get 'penned'

9.The un-collared sheep must be back on the starting side of the halfway marker before time can be called

10.At the discretion of the Judge, a team may be awarded a re-run if one or more head of their assigned sheep is deemed unsuitable (health wise) dangerous or escapes the arena.

11.If any dispute is to be brought up it must be addressed before any team member leaves the arena as well as $50 to be given to judges.

12.Team members must wear jeans and boots into the arena. Team colours are encouraged.

13.Manilla Show Society Inc. adopt a zero tolerance to bullying, intimidation and harassment. Teams will be suspended immediately if in breach of zero tolerance bullying policy.

14.Manilla Show Society Inc. adopt a zero-tolerance policy to animal cruelty. Any member deemed to be in breach of zero tolerance to cruelty policy by the Manilla Show Society Inc animal welfare officers will be suspended immediately.

Disqualifications

1.If time is called before the spare sheep are back across the halfway line, the team will incur a “no time”.

2.No time will be given if incorrect assigned sheep are in the pen when time is called.

3.If a team member enters the pen while the run is in progress.

4.No unnecessary rough handling, rushing or hitting of sheep.

5.Competitors will only be called 3 times. If you are not in the gate marshal area by the third call, that run will be forfeited.

6.Abuse of other members.

7.Abuse to judges or other committee members.
